OLV PARISH NEWS
OLV Parishioner Invites Support For Thanksgiving Mission of Gratitude: In June, Kaija Jeantet of OLV spent a week in northeastern Kentucky at Point of Hope to help homeless in the area. She was so touched by the needs, she will be part of a local team to go back in November. The team could use our caring help with monetary donations, needed contributions, and lots of prayers. A donation collection day has been organized at IHM on Nov. 14. For more info--UPDATED flyer
Mass & Confession Times Leaflet Updated: Our flyer with Mass & Confession times nearby has been updated, with several changes in other parishes. Note that the times for Christ the King & St. Martha will be in effect through November until the merger of these parishes.
OLV Word & Communion Services End July 30
Our Diocese has informed us that it is no longer permissible to have Word and Communion Services. The primary reason is not to confuse this with the celebration of the Eucharist at Mass, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are not authorized to lead the service “Holy Communion Outside of Mass (communion services)”. Our last Word and Communion Service was Thursday, July 30th. We encourage those who wish to attend Mass on Thursday to attend one of our area parishes: St Joseph M-F 7:00 AM (Chapel), Immaculate Heart of Mary M-F 8:00 AM, or Holy Family M-F 8:00 AM.
HEAR BETTER AT MASS! We invite more people from OLV who cannot hear well at Mass to use one of 6 wireless units we have available for use. OLV parishioners, Drs. Rich & Terry Reikowski donated the units. For free help to get started, give Dr. Rich a call at his office at 330-644-1932. Tell the secretary you are from OLV, and would like to talk to Dr. Rich. He`ll get back to you and try to arrange the easiest way for you to be helped to hear at Mass. His office hours are 7am-5pm Monday through Friday.
OLV PEACE Group Prays for an Orphan: Our 4th-6th Grade PEACE group has joined with The Orphan`s Prayer, an organization which works to bring assistance and prayers to meet the needs of the orphans of AIDS victims in Mexico and Central America. Our youth and their families have adopted one orphan, 11 year old Jaime Chacon. See Jaime, Pray the Prayer, & See how YOU can get involved Link to The Orphan`s Prayer Web Site
